Visible Mending on Shoes??

with No Comments

A friend recently asked me if these shoes could be saved.

It's easy to assume they can't be, or it's not worth the time and effort.

I think it's time to rethink this attitude!

I say - 'YES, they can be saved'

This repair used minimal supplies - just some sashiko thread in two colours, a sashiko needle and small scissors. The main input was some time and effort. I used the thread to recreate the warp and weft of a darn - the same technique used to repair socks and knitwear.

Imagine what we could achieve if we all put in a little more effort to repair and rejuvenate our belongings before sending them straight to trash.
